Man nabbed with stolen gun
MBARARA-The Rapid Response Unit has arrested Muhammad Kibuuka for being in possession of a gun stolen from the UPDF Second Division Barracks in Makenke. Kibuuka, who is also known as Robert Byenkya, was arrested on July 7 with the dismantled gun in his bag as he boarded a bus in Mbarara for Kampala, the southâ€“western regional Police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, said. She explained that the officers intercepted the bus following a tip-off.
Rukungiri in water crisis
RUKUNGIRI-A jerrycan of water in the town has increased from sh200 to sh1,000 following the prolonged water shortage. Town clerk David Muhwezi said the long drought had affected the water table of the river that supplies water to the town. â€œWe have gone about three weeks without piped water,â€ Muhwezi said. Charles Mwebembezi of the western ward said one borehole is used by about 2,000 people. â€œWe share the borehole with two primary and a secondary school,â€ Mwebezi said.
Man wanted over wife death
KAMWENGE-The Police are hunting for a man suspected to have murdered his wife. District Police commander Moses Muluya said Godson Isingoma, a resident of Rwenjaza village, Nyabani sub-county in Kitagwenda county, is alleged to have murdered his wife, Gorrette Musiime, after accusing her of adultery Musiimeâ€™s headless body was discovered by a neighbour in the coupleâ€™s home.
Video halls ordered closed
MBARARA-Kamukuzi Division assistant town clerk Geraldine Beitwababo has ordered authorities to close video halls in the area, saying they promote insecurity. â€œBad people hide in the halls during the day and terrorise residents in the night,â€ she said at the training of Kakiika Abamwe Cooperative Savings and Credit Association members on Sunday.
