FOF suspends Arua district
SOCCER - Friends of Football (FOF) has banned Arua district indefinitely due to gross indiscipline. A FOF official disclosed to The New Vision on Tuesday about the action. “The disciplinary committee of Friends of Football recently sat to take this ruling and it’s an indefinite ban. We shall only lift the ban we receive an apology in writing,†Davis Katabira, administrative secretary of FOF said. He said that the decision was taken after Arua was involved in misconduct at this year’s City Tyres FOF U-14 tournament in Gulu last month when they did not honour their play-off game with the hosts.
SOCCER - Kampala sports equipment dealer JB Nteza and Crown Beverages have joined in sponsoring the University Volleyball championships that will take place at Ndejje over the weekend. Nteza, who has provided equipment to most school competitions, has this time offered six trophies and medals for the top performers. The competition has attracted 11 teams in both the men and women categories.
Clubs to decide
SOCCER - Local Super League clubs will discuss whether to take GTV’s offer of standard home and away strips when they meet again on Sunday. The clubs could not make a final decision in Thursday’s meeting as they had to consult their superiors over the offer. GTV’s agent Neil Mackenzie had announced to the clubs that he had spoken to international kit manufacturers Adidas, Puma and Reebok to make some home and away strips for Ugandan clubs to be ready at kick-off.
