Two women were among the four Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels killed by the UPDF on Monday as they tried to sneak back into the DR Congo to arrange more attacks on Uganda.

Those killed were part of the ten rebels who had escaped fatal clashes with the UPDF at Bulondo in Bundibugyo district, in the past one and a half weeks.

The four brings the number of rebels killed during the period to 61, according to sources.

The UPDF 2nd Division spokesman, Lt. Tabaro Kiconco, said they recovered 750 bullets and one gun from the rebels killed during Monday’s clashes.

UPDF soldiers of the 53rd and 59th battalions intercepted the rebels at Bomboli, along the banks of River Semliki in Butoogo in Bundibugyo, although six escaped.

Kiconco said five rebels were captured during the recent clashes and one Congolese woman from Mbooga in Congo surrendered.

Sources said the ADF has abducted some congolese from the Eringeti National Park into their ranks.

According to defence minister, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, the rebels infiltrated the districts of Kibaale, Hoima, Mubende, Kamwenge and Kyenjojo.
