SIR — I was surprised to read in the New Vision last week that Baguma Isoke, state minister for lands had blamed the police, LCs and law enforcement agencies for looking on as Maj. Kakooza Mutale with his para-military staff evicted people in Kiboga district.
The authorities he blames can surely do nothing to a person whose middle name is ‘terror’ and is adviser to the President and over 100 MPs falling over each other to join him as members of CEDO/KAP.
Mutale has his own NGO which is not registered with the NGO board, has his own ‘police’ and his own ‘court’. All these are illegal.
So why should the police interfere with another ‘police’ and why should the LCs intervene when there is a more powerful court of Mutale’s backed by the most powerful people in the land?
Whenever complaints are raised about Mutale, government asks for evidence. Now that a minister has the evidence we want to see the government act on Mutale.
It is not enough to pronounce in meetings that he should be disarmed. He should be tamed so that legitimate authorities can do their work.
