PASTOR Simeon Kayiwa, the founding chairman of the National Association of Born-Again Churches of Uganda (NFBACU), has been replaced.
In elections held over the weekend, pastor Alex Mitala was elected the new chairman.
Kayiwa, pastor of the Namirembe Christian Fellowship Church, has been at the centre of witchcraft and fraud allegations.
He took leave from the chair in May 2003, to allow a probe into accusations by American author and former close friend, Rochelle Gibler that he used supernatural powers to harm people.
Pastor Dr. Joseph Sserwadda of Victory Christian Centre, who stood in while Kayiwa was being probed, was elected vice chairman NFBACU.
The Kayiwa probe turned controversial after the probe team reportedly disagreed shortly before the release of the report that cleared him of the witchcraft allegations.
One of the probe commissioners said he was writing a minority report.
