THREE suspected robbers were lynched by an irate mob in Mayuge district. The incident took place in Malongo sub-county on Wednesday, reports Esther Mukyala. The deceased were identified as Aminsi Sefu of Kabuka beach, Kowa Ekowu and Salenda, both residents of Malongo zone A. The deceased were alleged to have been terrorising the communities at night. It was alleged that the trio broke into the shop of a Malongo sub-county councillor, Michael Kagumba, and made off with merchandise. After the robbery, the residents mounted an operation in the home of Salenda and discovered two UPDF uniforms, a toy pistol and a radio. Salenda reportedly named his other two accomplices after he was interrogated. Other items including saucepans, mattresses, two bags of sugar, four jerricans of cooking oil and a weighing scale, two chairs and two lamps suspected to have been stolen from the residents were got from the suspects’ homes. After recovering the items, the angry residents reportedly tied the hands of the suspects and killed them using pangas, stones and sticks. The suspects were said to have been moving in a gang of 12 people. Nine others are on the run.Ends
