The newly appointed captain has great expectations for the squad that will represent Uganda in the International Cricket Council (ICC) mini- world cup in Canada next month. The tour at the invitation of Swamibapa CC comes three months after the South Africa tour. The side will play against select teams composed of Kenya internationals like Thomas Odoya, Maurice Odumbe, and Lameck Onyango. This is the last training tour before the national squad joins 23 ICC associate members to compete for three slots at the 2003 world cup in South Africa. Uganda's final 14-man team will be named immediately the side returns on Monday next week. The team may, however, miss the Canada trip because of failure to secure visas. ICC instructed Canadian Missions to issue visas to 25 countries. The Canadian High Commission in Kenya wants bank statements from the players. UCA secretary Justine Ligyalingi yesterday said: "The Canadian mission has demanded for bank statements whereas most of our players are students." r The three-week junior holiday coaching clinic ended at Lugogo over the weekend with a match between Kabila school and a combined select X1 junior team at Lugogo. The clinic under the mini cricket schools development programme (MCSDP) attracted participants from Buganda Rd PS, Shimon, Naguru, Budo Junior, Aga Khan, Nakasero among others. The tour team: J. Lubia (captain), K. Legesi, H. Okecho, D. Meya, H. Osinde, J. Kwebiiha, H. Kato, L. Ssematimba, R. Mwami, S. Nsubuga, T. Mbazzi, B. Musoke, J. Olweny, C. Lwanga, F. Nsubuga, R. Okia and K. Kamyuka.
