Striker Vianne Sekajugo was on target as Buganda defeated West Nile 1-0 in the first leg of the FUFA Drum final played at Bishop SS in Mukono.

After Buganda missed a host of scoring opportunities, it was Sekajugo who found the breakthrough in stoppage time to hand Buganda a slender advantage ahead of the return leg which will be played on October 6 in Arua.

Despite the defeat, West Nile striker Brian Umony expressed optimism that his side will bounce back.

"We have to sit down and analyse our mistakes and correct them. It is not yet over. We are going see our how we can utilise the 90 minutes. We have what it takes to overturn the result,” noted Umony.

To reach the final, Buganda eliminated Bukedi province while West Nile edged past Busoga in the semis.

The return leg will be played at Green Light Stadium in Arua where a sh100m cash prize is at stake.
