BUDAPEST - The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) has secured a third quota at the Men and Women Youth World Boxing Championship.
The Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary from August 22-31.
John Odoch was approved by the International Boxing Body (AIBA) Technical and rules Commission last week.
Odoch who lost at the quarterfinal stage of the Africa Men and Women Youth Boxing Championships in Morocco from March 5 to 11 will join Reagan Musoke and Muhammad Mazida who won silver and bronze medals respectively.
Musoke picked Silver in the flyweight (52kg) while Mazida claimed bronze in the Welterweight category (69kg) at the same continental campaigns.
Onen Jaffer (56kg), Mutyaba Colline (60kg), (64kg) and Mazida Muhammad (69kg) are the other Youth junior boxers who were on team Uganda.
The tournament will attract all boxers born between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2001, all medalists at the five different continental championships that took place between March and May.
On the men’s side, a total of 244 boxers will kick off the race to the Youth World title, including 233 coming from the qualification process six quotas reserved for the host country and five Universality places.
A total of 174 Youth Women’s entries to World Championships will be available for all the boxers who have competed in their respective Continental Championships
The three boxers have been training with different gyms and clubs but they will be summoned by the federation next week to start training as a team.
