MBARARA- The case in which former FDC party president Col. Dr Kizza Besigye and four others are accused of inciting violence, causing malicious damage and assaulting Police officers in Mbarara has been adjourned to March 6.
Besigye, his driver Fred Kato; the FDC party chief mobilizer, Ingrid Turinawe, together with FDC party President Patrick Amriat and Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa appeared before Mbarara Grade One Magistrate Daphin Ayebare for the mention of their cases.
Ayebare said the presiding magistrate was on leave and subsequently adjourned the cases to March 6.
The five face six different offences they allegedly committed last year on November 14 in Mbarara town as they headed to Kakyeka Stadium for a rally by the then FDC party presidential candidate Patrick Amriat.
The charges include damaging of property including a Police car, inciting violence and assaulting Police officers on duty among others.
Security remained tight in Mbarara town as Besigye and his co-accused travelled through the town to the court. They were tightly escorted by Police.
