Christians after Church service
The Bishop of Ruwenzori diocese, Reuben Kisembo, has urged Christians to use the time of Christmas to promote peace and unity in the Rwenzori region.
Preaching to hundreds of Christians who had turned up for Christmas service at St. John’s Cathedral in Fort Portal on Monday, Kisembo condemned the acts of violence in the Rwenzori region.
“This is the time when we should all unite and promote peace and unity and develop our region instead of fighting one another. That is not good,”Kisembo said.
The increasing immorality and insecurity in the world today was also the center of the Christmas Day sermon of Bishop Kisembo.
Kisembo bemoaned the fact that many people have lost hope for the future, conflicts are on the rise and corruption has overwhelmed nations.
“The corruption is on the increase in the country. Ugandans are being denied services. I condemn it,”Kisembo said.
He warned that there will be more trouble to come if leaders do not rise up to fight against evil and offer guidance to their followers.
Kisembo also encouraged young girls not to engage in immoral acts that will bring down their dignity saying that they must preserve their virginity.
“Young girls should ensure that they remain virgin and those searching should also search responsibly because cases of immoral decay are increasing in the country,”Kisembo said.
He also hailed the government for the operation wealth creation program which he said had helped to transform the agricultural sector in the country.
“I must give credit where its due many people are receiving planting materials through the OWC program and fighting poverty that is a very good innovation on the said of government,”Kisembo said.
