Despite failing to test their new recruits against Uganda Christian University (UCU) on Saturday, Shell Rimula Rhinos coach Brian Makalama insists his new youngsters are good enough to face Betway Kobs.

Rhinos had an 28-0 walkover against UCU after the hosts didn’t turn up and will now play Kobs who whipped Mbale Elephants 72-0 in Mbale.

“It was a day for identifying our weaknesses. Unfortunately our hosts were not ready but it is good they gave us a friendly training session which has helped me identify the areas to fine tune,” Makalama stated.

“I’ve got a number of young boys from university and high school but I’m confident they are good enough to face any team even though I didn’t test them against UCU,” Makalama said.

Last year Rhinos lost to Kobs in the quarterfinals and Saturday is a chance to exact revenge.

In the other fixtures Hima Cement Heathens who beat Walukuba 59-6 will face Warriors who got a 28-0 walkover against Gulu Elephants.

Heathens’ youngsters Aaron Wanyoto scored a record six tries while Bishop Onen added two tries.

Heathens coach Muhammad Athio noted that his team has got a lot to work on before Saturday’s clash.

“We have a lot to work on. If we were perfect we should have scored a century to zero but by virtue of that we scored 59 and they scored six. We have a lot to work on,” Athio stated.

“This is a knockout tournament and every team comes with a strategy to upset a defending champion,” Athio added.

In the other games Pirates defeated Rams 52-0 to book a quarterfinal berth against Jinja Hippos who upset Makerere Impis 14-13 in a tightly contested game.
