A tense semi-final is on the cards as defending champion Kibuli take on former champions St. Mary’s Kitende in the Copa Coca Cola Post Primary school championships at the Kitovu Sports Arena on Friday.

It is the two sides that played last year’s final but the draw held on Thursday pitted them against each in the second semi final of the day.

Kibuli and Kitende qualified past resolute sides Masaka SS and Dynamic SS in the quarter finals after penalty shoot-outs that they won 3-1 and 4-3 after 1-1 and 0-0 draws respectively.

It was tense in the quarters with nine-man Kibuli ejecting the hosts after playing almost the entire game with nine men after referee Ashiraf Miiro sent off Kibuli captain Fred Tabu and striker Adam Musisi for dissent and unsportsmanlike conduct.

Consequently, Kibuli goes in the semis minus three of their best players including first choice goalkeeper Ali Mwerusi who was sent off for punching a Buhobe striker in the round of 16.

But it won’t be easy for Kitende who survived being knocked out by a whisker yesterday. They were held by Dynamic 0-0 in normal time before winning the tense shoot-out 4-3.

St. Mary’s Kitende attacker Sula Mpanga faintyed after missing his effort as tension grew.

Nakaseke International College who made their first semi final since 2008, beat Jinja Progressive Academy 2-0 with Thomas Kabale and Sulaiman Ssesazi getting their goals in either half.

They take on Jinja SS who eliminated Mbarara's Citizen High 5-1 in the quarter finals.

The final and classification matches will be played on Saturday at the recreation ground,

Since the round of sixteen 19 goals have been scored bringing the total number of goals to 629 minus those score in 5 of the matches that have been decided through spot kicks.
