Ebayo top seed in Taibah show

HERBERT Ebayo and Shamim Bangi are the top seeds in the fifth edition of the Taibah Schools badminton Open starting at Lugogo indoor stadium today.

HERBERT Ebayo and Shamim Bangi are the top seeds in the fifth edition of the Taibah Schools badminton Open starting at Lugogo indoor stadium today.

Ebayo of St Margaret High and Taibah High’s Bangi and their rivals will be battling for a share of several awards in the three-day competition.

The annual competition has attracted over 300 students from about 20 schools.

Taibah Schools are sponsoring the sh4m event that was launched on Tuesday.

Ebayo, who has dominated the U-18 category, will face several other talented players including seed two Ian Senoga.

Senoga is graduating from the U-15 category.

Defending champion Bangi, who will compete in her last school’s tournament, has many players out to dethrone her.

The group includes rising star Jovia Kyomuhendo.

Uganda Badminton Association chief Operations Officer Simon Mugabi, said the event promises to be competitive.

Referring to the main event, Mugabi said, “there is no out right winner, Ebayo has the experience, while Senoga has the talent.

There will be action in the boy’s and girl’s U-10, U-13, U-15 and U-18 events.
