Stanbic boosts African Nations Cup

STANDARD Bank has signed a new eight-year deal with Africa football governing authority CAF to sponsor elite continental tournaments. They include the next four editions of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) starting with Angola 2010.

STANDARD Bank has signed a new eight-year deal with Africa football governing authority CAF to sponsor elite continental tournaments. They include the next four editions of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) starting with Angola 2010.

Standard Bank (Stanbic), who were the financial services sponsor for the CAN Ghana 2008 said in a statement that, “the new sponsorship agreement emphasizes Standard Bank’s commitment to African football over the long term”.

Besides the CAN, the sponsorship deal will cover the biannual Africa Youth Championship from 2009-15 and the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup from 2009 to 2016.
