THE chairman of the Uganda Printers Association (UPA) Benon Ssentengo has said that government spends $14m annually on printing of text books using foreign companies, which has hurt the local printing industry.
He said that Uganda’s printing companies are denied the jobs on allegations that they lack trained manpower and are obsolete machinery.
“This has left local printers without jobs due to lack of skills and using out-dated machinery,†he said
He said that with help of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) the association was planning to carry out feasibility studies on printing policies for three countries.
