Various flag-bearers and leaders in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party from the six districts in Busoga East have requested the NRM government to work on improving health services in order to save lives.

The leaders expressed their issues as they waited for NRM's presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni, to address them at Iganga Municipality Primary school playground on Thursday.

He also requested the Government to loosen what he called harsh conditions that were put up for people who requested for the Emyooga money.

"People were told to first save before accessing the Emyooga money, but you may find that someone has capital of sh20,000, yet people expect soft loans to boost their businesses and pay them later," Dabasada said.

Ezra Gabula, the NRM flagbearer for the Iganga district LC5 seat, requested that Nakavule General Hospital be elevated to a referral hospital since it is located on the Jinja-Bugiri highway.

He said most accident victims are referred to the hospital and requested for establishment of a blood bank at the hospital.

Gabula added that there is also need to increase on the number of human resources in Nakavule Hospital and drugs.

Former Namutumba district Woman MP Florence Mutyabule requested that Nsinze Health Centre IV be elevated to a district hospital for Namutumba, saying that patients from Namutumba are taken to Iganga or Bugiri hospitals.

Mutyabule also requested the Government to work on bridges that connect Namutumba district to other districts, such as the Kikalu-Kibuku bridge and Buyenvu- Butaleja, in order to boost trade between those districts.

Haji Siraji Gusongoire, the NRM chairperson in Namutumba district, requested the Government to construct health centres in constituencies of Bukono and Busiki, since a health centre is supposed to be constructed in each constituency.

He added that he was happy that President Museveni promised to work on some of the roads that link Namutumba to the districts of Kaliro and Pallisa.

Bakka Mugabi, the NRM flag-bearer for Bukoli North County, requested the Government to connect power to trading centres that include Wangobo, Nakawa-Nkaiza and Buziika, through its rural electrification programme.

Sanon Bwire, the Bulamoji County NRM flag-bearer, requested the NRM government to revive the defunct ginnery at Bulumba village in Kaliro district and turn it into a textile factory.

He commended President Museveni for extending electricity to various villages in Kaliro district through the rural electrification programme, adding that electric poles have been installed in most trading centres in Bulamogi County, to connect power to communities.
