He was voted the best athlete of November for winning the Tanzania KBC Marathon

Athlete Philip Kiplimo feels he now has the perfect motivation as he prepares for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo next year.

Kiplimo disclosed this on Wednesday at the National Council of Sports offices in Lugogo after receiving the Fortebet Realstars athlete of the month award.

"This is a great motivation for us athletes. This has charged me and many other athletes to target more medals at the Olympics next year," Kiplimo said in his appreciation speech.

Kiplimo was voted the best athlete of November for winning the Tanzania KBC Marathon.

Other winners of the monthly award included basketball star Jimmy Enabu who played an inspirational role as team captain of the Silverbacks in qualifying for the next round of the AfroBasket qualifiers.

To win the monthly award, Enabu beat stiff opposition from teammate Robinson Opong and Ishmail Wainright.

Uganda lost to hosts Egypt, but Enabu regrouped his side to beat Cape Verde and Morocco to qualify.

Event CEO Isaac Mukasa thanked the athletes for keeping the Uganda flag flying high and urged them to stay focused.

NCS chairman Dr Donald Rukare commended Realstars for the initiative to recognise Ugandan athletes and urged them to work harder.

He added that as the government, they are working hard to see that they provide a good working environment for the athletes.
