Cwinya-ai beat the rest of the male elite golfers on the land to the USPA vote to land his first ever sports scribes podium recognition at the annual awards ceremony held in Kampala last week.

His return to Tooro Club was marked with a glamorous function organised by AFRIYEA Golf Academy and attended by academy staff, students, parents, and well-wishers and presided over by Fort Portal Municipality MP Alex Ruhunda.

"We organised this event to welcome our very own coach Joseph Cwinya-Ai with an objective of using his incredible achievement to inspire the academy students to follow in his footsteps," AFRIYEA CEO Isaiah Mwesige noted.

On his part, the overjoyed Cwinya-ai hailed the academy for the wonderful recognition and called on the young talents to work hard.

"Take education as the priority since we are moving into a modern world. Look at us as an inspiration to your love for the sport of golf and above all be disciplined, determined and pray to God always," Cwinya-ai said.

The 24-year-old Cwinya-ai emerged USPA male Golf player of 2019, for his excellent performance in 2019 where he won four events namely, Kinyara Open, Kakira Open, Entebbe Open, Mayombo Open, and Venus Open before finishing runner up in the Tanzania Open.

Cwinya-ai joins the rest of the Tooro Golf Club stars including three-time winner Ronald Otile (2015, 2016, and 2018) and Ronald Rugumayo who clobbered it in 2017, to have won this accolade.
