Uganda's recent improvement in cricket has helped peak interest on the continent and with that interest comes opportunity.

On Thursday, Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) welcomed a delegation from the Africa Cricket Academy (ACA) who are here on a fact-finding mission.

The team led by former Zimbabwe's coach Stephen Mangongo together with Amos Mawungwa has the task to see if Uganda is a viable home for an academy.

"The intention for the group is to find a home for a World Class Cricket Academy on the continent and Uganda is a destination of interest," UCA communicated.

The other purpose is to look at the quality of cricket playing facilities in Uganda to raise them to a high-performance standard.

The two are on a three-day crash course program in which they started by paying a visit to the National Council of Sports followed by a visit to the cricket playing schools of Jinja SS and Busoga College Mwiri.

They will then have a training session with the national team and a visit to Naguru, a slum that has produced some of Uganda's finest cricket talent.
