KAMPALA - The Vice Chancellor of Busitema University Prof. Paul Waako, has been re-elected unopposed to Chair the Research Academia Scientists and Professionals, Self-Coordinating Entity (RASP-SCE) to the Global Fund Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanisms.

In the same way, Dr Cissy Kityo the Executive Director Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) was elected as the Alternate Chair RASP-SCE to the Global Fund Country Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanisms.

Prof Waako pledged to promote networking within the entity adding that researchers and academicians among others have contributed a lot to the National Response to HIV/AIDS. 

Waako promised to continue coordinating and hastening until HIV is wiped out.

Kityo said that they will also ensure getting more research findings especially for work done locally to ensure that it contributes to the practice and improving the work they do with the Global Fund, in the areas of Tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, and Malaria.

"One of our roles is monitoring and evaluation, we will make sure that this role is enhanced and we will also look at extending beyond Kampala and have Regional Chapters such that the input from different regions is also enhanced," Kityo said.
