PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS

NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi is campaigning in Masindi, Kiryandongo and Buliisa districts on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, a few minutes into a talk show on Spice FM in Hoima district, Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, was told he was not supposed to be in the district as per his campaign itinerary.

"We have just received a directive that you are supposed to be in Masindi according to the Electoral Commission programme. We shall not continue with this programme as earlier planned," talk show host Fred Byenkya told Kyagulanyi on air.

The NUP leader used about two minutes accorded to him to greet and rally the people of Hoima to vote for NUP in all elective positions.

He then led his deputy for western region Jolly Mugisha and NUP candidates out of the studio.

On Wednesday, Kyagulanyi only managed to campaign in Kagadi district.

Kyagulanyi, who is also the sitting Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East, is giving his first shot at the presidency in a cast featuring seasoned candidates President Yoweri Museveni (NRM) and Norbert Mao (DP).

Just like Kyagulanyi, Patrick Oboi Amuriat (FDC) and Gen. Mugisha Muntu (ANT) are also first-time presidential contestants.

And so are independents Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde, Joseph Kabuleta, Nancy Linda Kalembe, John Katumba, Fred Mwesigye and Willy Mayambala, who are also in the race.
