UWEC, KCCA start removing marabou storks from Parliament

UGANDA wildlife authority has started the process of relocating the marabou storks at parliament.

This follows a complaint by the state minister for mineral development Sarah Opendi over the stench from the birds which she says might be harmful to human health and asked parliament to consider relocating them.

The wildlife team accompanied by the KCCA team yesterday (Tuesday, November 24, 2020) climbed on the trees and picked the eggs, rescued nestlings of the marabou storks, cattle egrets and destroyed the nests.

The officer in charge of problem animals at wildlife authority Vanice Mirembe says what they are doing is taking the nestling and destroying the nests in the hope the birds will go away.

She also says that the team will be returning on Friday to finalize the work which has been hindered by branches.
