Govt bans beer at livestock markets

On Tuesday, Minister for Animal Industry Bright Rwamirama, said beer, among other items, is prohibited as a precautionary measure to fight COVID-19.

Government has banned the sale of beer at livestock markets across the country. 

On Tuesday, Minister for Animal Industry Bright Rwamirama, said beer, among other items, is prohibited as a precautionary measure to fight COVID-19.

"Sale of merchandise like beer, food, clothes, etc is prohibited in and around the livestock market," said Rwamirama. 

He was speaking to the press at the Uganda Media Centre.

The ban will be implemented alongside the other COVID-19 standard operating procedures.

The minister explained guidelines for use at livestock markets.




Rwamirama emphasised that markets in districts under animal quarantine, will remain closed until the Commissioner, Animal Health deems it fit to operate.
