PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS

National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential flagbearer Robert Kyagulanyi took his campaign message to the districts of Kagadi, Kibaale and Hoima in western Uganda on Wednesday.

In Kagadi, his first stop-over, Kyagulanyi's rally was disrupted by rain but his supporters braved it to listen to his "liberation message".

Rain did not stop the Kagadi locals from gathering to listen to Kyagulanyi

Earlier, Kyagulanyi's supporters were seen following him on his way to Kagadi.

Kyagulanyi, who is also the sitting Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East, is giving his first shot at the presidency in a cast featuring seasoned candidates President Yoweri Museveni (NRM) and Norbert Mao (DP).

Just like Kyagulanyi, Patrick Oboi Amuriat (FDC) and Gen. Mugisha Muntu (ANT) are also first-time presidential contestants.

And so are independents Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde, Joseph Kabuleta, Nancy Linda Kalembe, John Katumba, Fred Mwesigye and Willy Mayambala, who are also in the race.

On Wednesday, on his way to Kagadi for his first rally of the day, Kyagulanyi stood through the sunroof of his car, raising a clenched fist in the direction of his supporters, with his vehicle sandwiched in a convoy of cars belonging to his campaign team, security and the press.

Some people were seen washing their hands in adherance to the standard operating procedures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

But the social distancing aspect was not observed at the rally.

Kyagulanyi stood on the roof of his car to address his first rally of the day.
