MV- Templar boat survivors to build church worth sh500m

Prince David Wassajja lauded community members for their efforts towards saving lives during the fateful night.

Survivors of MV Templar, a boat which capsized on Lake Victoria, on November 24, 2018, killing more than 30 people, on Tuesday converged at Mutima beach in Mukono district to remember the departed souls.   

Today marks two years since the boat which was carrying nearly 100 revelers heading for a party, capsized after developing mechanical problems. 

The prayers were attended by Prince David Wassajja, Godfrey Kirumira, Kavuma Kaddu, and Marcus Nkangi among others, plus relatives of those who lost their lives. 

In memory of the lives lost, the survivors have pledged to construct St. Ponsiano church in Mubanda village in, memory of the lost souls. 

The prayers were led by Fr. Gonzaga Ssali of St. Paul Parish in Lugazi Diocese, who asked the survivors to use the event as an avenue to repent of their sins adding that everything happens for a reason. 

They handed over a dummy cheque worth sh50m towards the construction of a church which requires about sh500m. 

In his speech, Wassajja lauded the community members for their efforts towards saving lives during the fateful night.
