There is still no official Police report on his killing.

Residents of Kasaala Village near Luweero Town are in grief after the Police shot dead their LCI chairman while dispersing a mob of rioting youths along the Luweero-Nakasongola highway on Wednesday evening.

Richard Mutyaba who is also the head of the laity at Kasaala Catholic Parish was killed at around 7:30 pm as he tried to remove a barricade that a group of demonstrating youths had put across the highway.

Hundreds of mourners on Thursday thronged the late Mutyaba's home to sympathise with the grieving family.

Luweero Police who transported Mutyaba's body from the scene to Kasana Hospital mortuary a few hours after the incident, had by midday today not come up with an official report on his killing.

Samuel Mulwana an LCV councillor who resides in the area said Mutyaba was killed while trying to calm the mob of demonstrating youth who had placed barricades across the highway.

Traffic came to a standstill as several groups protesting National Unity Platform presidential flag bearer, Robert Kyagulanyi's arrest, blocked roads, stoned and torched government vehicles, and buildings.

Teargas and gunshots were fired by the Police as they fought running battles with the demonstrators in Luweero and Wobulenzi towns and later in nearby trading centers and villages.

In Wobulenzi Town on the Kampala-Luweero Highway, the demonstrators set ablaze a government vehicle and a Grade 1 Magistrate's Court.
