Despite Covid-19, Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) says it has had a remarkable year.

During the launch of the Olympics Games program in Kampala, UAF president Domenic Otucet said for the first time Uganda managed three world records in athletics in the same year.

"This season has been difficult because of Covid-19 which affected the whole world. Despite all that, athletes have performed better than in the previous year. This year, the country had three world records by Joshua Cheptegei and this had never happened before. This year that's when we had only one World athletes championship that is the World Half marathon that was won by Jacob Kiplimo," Otucet said.

Otucet also revealed that the federation has lined up 15 track and field local competitions and four international competitions to assist athletes to qualify for the Olympics.

Twenty-one Ugandans have already qualified for the Olympics.
