KAMPALA - Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) officials on Saturday (November 14, 2020) met with the traders operating business in St. Balikuddembe market commonly known as Owino.

This follows the September 25 President Yoweri Museveni's directive on the immediate disbandment of association leaders in all government markets in Kampala.

Kampala Minister Betty Amongi accompanied by KCCA executive director Dorothy Kisaka, deputy KCCA executive director Eng. David Luyimbazi, Kampala Resident City Commissioner (RDC) Faridah Mayanja, and the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Moses Kafeero and others met the leadership of St. Balikuddembe traders at Nakivubo Blue Primary school.

In a charged-up meeting that took three hours, traders agreed to have a dialogue with Government with effect from Monday, November 16, 2020, on how the directives are to be executed.

After the meeting, the traders together with the team toured the eight-acre market and talked to some traders.

This was done to pave way for the election of new leaders by market vendors under the supervision of the Kampala minister.
