KAMPALA - The Presidential candidate of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Gen. Mugisha Muntu has warned Ugandans against replacing President Yoweri Museveni with a weak leader.

Muntu addressing a campaign rally at Kalerwe in Kampala said that the post-Museveni era would require a strong leader to handle the many problems at hand.

"We must be careful so that Museveni does not affect us when is still in power and also affect us when is already out of power," Muntu said.

He emphasized that the frustration and the desire for change by Ugandans should not make them forget life after Museveni.

"Many people, because we have gone through a lot all these years including politics of lies, have reached the extent of thinking that things cannot change but we want to reassure you as ANT that change is possible," Muntu said.

Muntu pledged to establish the national health insurance scheme.

He asked Ugandans to vote ANT into power saying that it is only them who will make what seems impossible possible.

"We are people who are calm, people who believe people are equal before the law, who believes in transparency and accountability and we cannot be tempted by money or even being corrupted by power," he said.

Ugandans according to Muntu should properly scrutinize all the ten candidates who want to remove President Museveni and see who has the best team to lead Uganda afterward.

"So two things have to be done simultaneously, develop the economy so that we can solve problems of education, problems of health, and problems of infrastructure as we pay back the debt," he said.

He reiterated; "I'm not asking Ugandans to love me. Even if you do not love me I do not have any problem. But what I'm requesting is to trust me because I'm worth to be trusted. You can trust me and you do not need to look behind," Muntu said.

He said he will work to eliminate the slums through introducing a programme that will ensure low-cost houses but which are habitable in the current slum areas in Kampala and other parts of Uganda.

"You cannot say that the country is developed when you still have slums," Muntu disclosed.

Muntu pledged to establish the national health insurance scheme. "It is one of the things we want to do as the ANT so that even a person who cannot afford sh10, 000 can access the expensive medical care," he said.
