Jim Muhwezi launches re-election bid

He said projects that he was pursuing when he was still an MP have all stalled and will begin afresh

Former Rujumbura constituency MP Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi has launched his campaign to capture his former seat in Bwambara Parish, Bwambara sub-county, Rujumbura in Rukungiri district.

Muhwezi who is also the NRM district chairperson said he was canvassing support for President Yoweri Museveni, himself, and all other NRM flag bearers.

"As NRM district chairperson, I have to work for all flag bearers but when it comes to the Bwambara sub-county chairperson seat, I get confused because Dinah Rwakacaka is a staunch NRM supporter but she doesn't have a flag. I support Kagayano who has the flag but the ball is in your court to choose the right person," he said.

Muhwezi said that projects that he was pursuing when he was still an MP have all stalled and will begin afresh.

"All roads are impassable and yet your MP is also the chairperson of the roads committee but cannot open all these roads when the government is sending here over sh5bn annually to work on roads," he said, asking voters to choose him so that he can continue the development.

Muhwezi said that the government will construct gravity water projects for people of Bwambara and Bugangari who have been stressed by water supply for a long time.

He visited Kasheregyenyi, Omukikomo, Bwambara, and Kyabahanga villages and said he will get enough time to do house-to-house visits to know the problems of his people.

He promised to create more administrative units in Rujumbura in order to bring the services near to the people.

"When we create another parish here in Omukikomo it will be easier to bring here government primary school because each parish is entitled to a school, similarly to the sub-county and county," he said.

Muhwezi added that Rujumbura County is too big with a high population where more sub-counties and two or three constituencies can be carved out.
