Gen. Tumukunde hails Kanungu residents

The Independent presidential candidate Gen. Henry Tumukunde has been welcomed by his supporters in Kanungu district shortly after launching his manifesto in his home district of Rukungiri in the district main stadium.
Gen Tumukunde was accompanied by boda boda cyclists to Kanungu district main stadium where he addressed the masses.
Before reaching the district main stadium , Gen Tumukunde was stopped by security operatives for a couple of minutes but he was later allowed to continue in the presence of security officers.
While addressing the masses in the district main stadium, Gen. Tumukunde hailed the people of Kanungu for welcoming him saying that it was his pleasure, and he is so humbled by their welcome.
"It is my pleasure that I have been welcomed in a such manner. I never expected this, but this only explains the support you have for me. Thank you, the people, of Kanungu" Gen. Tumukunde said.
He told the masses that this is a revolutionary election saying that If this is a boxing ring, the bell has rung, he has entered the ring on behalf of Ugandans trapped in misery and suffering adding that he will not surrender until Ugandans are liberated.
"I have entered the struggle whether it is shinning or raining I will have to fight until we are liberated from the corrupt National Resistance Movement government that has benefited few, leaving many dying of poverty, yet they are paying taxes on a daily basis." Gen Tumukunde said.
In the manifesto, Gen Tumukunde promises to improve service delivery in the country, health, human rights, water and electricity extension, promotion of trade and industry, promotion of agriculture among others.
Gen. Tumukunde also promised to continue fighting poverty, infrastructure development, and promote the tourism industry and rule of the law.
At around 4:30 pm on Tuesday, Gen. Tumukunde left for Kisoro district but left his supporters chanting his name and some even escorted him up to the boarder point of Kanungu district under tight security.
Gen. Tumukunde is among the 11 presidential candidates who were nominated by the Electoral Commission last week to run with the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni.
Kanungu district has been voting NRM since 2001.
