KCCA FC striker Brian Aheebwa has cautioned fellow sportsmen to plan for life after sports.

Aheebwa who joined KCCA on three-year contract few months ago says he decided to be a clinical officer so as to improve on his sources of income though both need time.

"Medicine and football both need time so I do practice sometimes in the off season and I have a practicing license. This why I pushed hard to graduate since football reaches at time when you can't play it and you have to pursue other things. So after football definitely I will go back to my medical course," he stated.

As a clinical officer, Aheebwa clerks patients, prescribe drugs, does minor surgeries and also does some health research programmes.

Many retired athletes out there have failed to sustain their lives after retirement and this has left them in sorrowful state.

Saving and setting up small businesses or having SACCOs are some of the things players can work around while playing to make their future bright.

Having the right people to manage these players can also play to their success or downfall.

Aheebwa reasons that having a side job or back up while playing gives you the chance to move forward.

"It's a very crucial thing any footballer can have. You have to have back up plan because you can never know what will happen. You have to plan for life after football. Immediately after football what is next for you? It is really a personnel motivation to do something," he noted.
