Mukamanayamba firm in Gulu closed

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) on Wednesday closed Mukamanayamba Gulu branch which was found manufacturing drinks under unhygienic conditions.

In a statement, UNBS noted that products manufactured in Gulu were found labelled as ‘manufactured in Kabwohe'. 

"Gulu facility has no certification permit and products manufactured in Gulu are illegally bearing the Qmark," UNBS stated.

The quality firm further noted that they had suspended the operations of the company in Gulu.

Mukamanayamba is a local drink popular in several parts of the country usually taken by individuals after its advert claimed it boosts sexual performance.

In October, State House Anti-Corruption Unit arrested two staff of UNBS for attempting to solicit a sh3m bribe from the manager of Mukamanayamba to give him a certificate of inspection.
