The 900km three-day challenge will see participants cover 340kms on day one

Tourism operators have commended United Motorsport Club (UMOSPOC) and Enduro Club for their efforts in promoting domestic tourism.

James Mwere, the chairman of Tourism Guides Forum Uganda and also the director of MJ Safaris lauded the two clubs at the launch of the three-day Africa Kwetu Fuel Economy tour due on November 20 to 22 in western Uganda.

"Unfortunately, motorsport is the most neglected avenue for promoting domestic tourism, yet we need to tap into its huge following," Mwere said.

"I want to thank UMOSPOC and Enduro for this gesture and pledge to support this project that is aimed at promoting not only domestic tourism but also road safety and environmental protection."

Event manager Tendo Mutale disclosed that the race has been rebranded to Africa Kwetu Fuel Economy Tour because of plans to turn it into a continental event in the future.

The 900km three-day challenge sponsored by Worldwide Movers will see participants cover 340kms on day one from Kampala to Kapeka, Bukomero, Kabwoya Game Reserve, and Hoima where they will plant bamboo trees the next morning.

On day two, they will cover 230kms from Hoima through Kagadi, Semuliki National Game Park, and Sempaya Hot springs in Bundibugyo before spending a night in Fort Portal.

They will then finalise the tour by heading to Kasese Kazinga Channel, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishaka Escapements in Bushenyi, and end the tour in Mbarara for the prize-giving ceremony.
