Police assure Presidential aspirants security guarantee

Ochom, the Director Operations in Police said they have developed a multi-agency tactical response before, during, and after nominations.

KAMPALA - The Uganda Police Force (UPF) has assured the Presidential aspirants of security ahead of the nominations scheduled for the 2nd and 3rd of November.

Speaking during a press briefing at the media center, Edward Ochom, the Director Operations in Uganda Police said, "We have developed a multi-agency tactical response before, during, and after nominations."

Ochom explained that the multi-agency tactical response involves a mix of visible and invisible resources deployed in and around the venue.

"This is done to detect any range of criminal activity," he said.

According to EC's program, six aspirants will be nominated on Monday. These include President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (NRM), Henry Tumukunde (independent), John Katumba (independent), Mugisha Muntu (Alliance for National Transformation), and Nancy Linda Kalembe (independent).  

National Unity Platform aspirant, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine; Patrick Oboi Amuriat of Forum for Democratic Change party and Independents; Willy Mayambala, Fred Mwesigye, Joseph Kiiza Kabuleeta will be nominated on Tuesday.

The nomination event will take place at Kyambogo University.
