Two killed by flash floods in Kasese

The deceased were a mother and her child.

Two people were on Thursday night killed after they were swept away by River Hima in Kasese district following a late evening downpour.

According to the Uganda Red Cross Society spokesperson, Irene Nakasiita, the bodies of the mother and her child were recovered on Friday morning.

The two were swept away from Kalumanga village in Kitswamba sub-county at about 7:30pm.

The search and rescue mission was led by the Police, the District Internal Security Officer and Red Cross Response Action Teams.
  
"The lady has been identified as Night Bbiira, aged between 35-40," Nakasiita added.
