Bantariza died of COVID-19 - Govt

The Government has confirmed that the Deputy Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, Col Shaban Bantariza, died of COVID-19.

This was revealed by Ofwono Opondo, the Uganda Media Centre Executive Director, at Mulago National Referral Hospital.

 
Bantariza's body is still being kept at Mulago following his death this morning.

Opondo said Bantariza fell sick last week after complaining of fever, headache, cough and flu. 

He was then taken to different medical facilities for treatment until he was referred to Mulago, where he tested positive for COVID-19 and later died.

Burial arrangements are still under discussion but Opondo said they will abide by the health ministry guidelines on burying COVID-19 victims.
