The NRM chairperson of Kalaki district, Charles David Enepu said many of the aspirants who contested as directly elected Members of Parliament in the primary elections for Kalaki, did not turn up for the reconciliation meeting and pre-presidential nomination and mobilisation drive.

Enepu said the incumbent MP, Clement Kenneth Ongalo Obote who is also the flag bearer was one of the few who were present.

He said it was not a good gesture as some sent in apologies, which did not show the spirit of reconciliation.

Enepu said this was the third time they were holding the reconciliation meeting. He said there were petitions that were later thrown out, as they did not have merit.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Ayoo Nalukwago who is the NRM flag bearer was present with three of her contenders who have not contested as independent candidates.

Christine Achan, Catherine Abago and Jane Asio Arayo Emoru. Maria Goretti Ajilo who has gone independent was not present.
Enepu said  reconciliation was good for the party.

In the meeting were elders and other district party leaders. Simone Peter Aleper, the NRM vice chairperson of Karamoja sub region who is also standing in as CEC representative said NRM is interested in peace and unity of its members.
