URA registers a shortfall in revenue collections

The deficit in revenue collections for the month September come on the heels of a loan request in parliament of sh6 trillion to finance the budget due to revenue shortfalls.

Uganda Revenue Authority has registered a shortfall in revenue collections for the month of September 2020.

According to a report released by the ministry of finance on the performance of the economy the tax collector targeted sh1.7 trillion and registered a shortfall of sh228B.

The deficit in revenue collections for the month September come on the heels of a loan request in parliament of sh6 trillion to finance the budget due to revenue shortfalls.

The report further indicates that the government in the first quarter of the financial year 2020/2021 continued its commitment to supporting the private sector to brave the impact of COVID-19 by putting up an economic stimulus package with sh455B released to Uganda Development Bank, sh110B released for EMYOOGA while sh305B was released to clear domestic arrears.
