RUKIGA - Residents of Rwamucucu sub-county in Rukiga district are struggling with transport following the submerging of Rushebeya-Kitaraka footbridge after heavy rains.

The bridge that was across the Kitanga-Rushebeya wetland, covered half a kilometre. It connects the parishes of Burime and Nyakagabagaba in Rwamucucu sub-county as well as Kitunga and Ngoma in Kashambya sub-county.

The same bridge also connects to Rwempisi Primary School, Rwempisi Vocational Secondary School, Kihorezo primary/secondary schools as well as Rwanjura and Kirundwe health centre IIs.

The locals said the incident happened a week ago and none of the leaders has come out to help them.

Denis Kapigo, a resident of Bweeza village in Kitojo parish, blamed the district leadership for paying a deaf ear to the cries of the locals.
