BUSHENYI - Ahead of the upcoming general elections, the NRM chairman, President Yoweri Museveni has been urged to design more strategies that can bring more youth into the NRM party and vote for him.

Nicholas Nuwagira the national NRM vice chairperson youth league Western region said much as government has introduced a number of programs and projects to benefit the youth like the youth's revolving fund, skilling, emyooga which is on-going among others; they (programs) need to be fine-tuned to meet the needs of the youth.

Nuwagira who is the Bushenyi district youth counselor said they have already started a mobilization campaign strategy in the region where they explain to the youth what the NRM government has done for them and the reasons why they should again vote for President Museveni.

Addressing journalists at Premier Hotel in Bushenyi town on Wednesday, Nuwagira said, "We are meeting 30 youths per village and the issues they are raising is that the government projects which were designed to benefit them were not designed well."

Nuwagira explained, " The NRM should put much emphasis on the youth because in the recently concluded NRM primaries they (youth) influenced the voting pattern and voted for a change of MPs."

He expressed his worry saying most of the opposition political parties are now targeting the vulnerability of the youth.

"We should intensify our mobilization strategies amongst the youth so that Museveni can get more than 80% in the presidential elections," he added.

Nuwagira advised the NRM top leadership to empower and strengthen the youth party structures so that they can be effective in mobilizing their fellow youth.
