KIRUHURA - David Andiida Angom, the Kiruhura district NRM registrar has been granted a cash bail of sh500, 000.

Angom is battling charges of uttering false documents, forgery and conspiracy to commit a felony, the offences he's allegedly believed to have committed during the Nyabushozi county NRM primaries.

Grade One Chief Magistrate, Samuel Ntende Kagoda, of Kiruhura Chief Magistrates' Court granted the accused bail, Thursday (October 22, 2020) after furnishing three substantial sureties.

Among the sureties he presented was his father, Wyclif Kakiza, Solomon Rugiira and his mother.

The defence lawyer, Allan Musasiire requested the court to grant the accused bail on grounds that the offences he allegedly committed were bailable and that he had substantial sureties.

The accused's relatives listening to court proceedings on Thursday.

"Your worship, we pray that you find the sureties substantial and grant the accused bail on court's discretion," Musasiire submitted.

In response to the bail application, the prosecution did not object to the sureties presented, prompting court to grant the accused bail.

"Since the prosecution does not object to the sureties presented, the accused is hereby granted a cash bail of sh500, 000 and the three sureties are each bonded sh5m, non-cash," Kagoda ruled.

The prosecution asserts that with intent to commit a felony, Angom changed and forged tally sheets in favor of Col. Fred Mwesigye against Wilson Kajwengyye.

The case was adjourned to October 29, 2020 for hearing.
