The Finance Minister and NRM flag bearer for Buyanja Constituency Matia Kasaija has secured sh100m geared towards the construction of dilapidated access and feeder roads in Kibaale district.

The release of the funds from government is contained in a letter dated October 15,  signed by the Acting Executive Director Uganda Road Fund (URF) Andrew Naimanye following the request by Minister Kasaija to disburse funds for rehabilitating dilapidated roads and feeder roads in the hard hit sub-counties of Bubango, Nyamarwa, Kabasekende and Nyamarunda in Kibaale district.

In the letter, the emergency funds include road works construction of the 10km Kirika- Kisonde- Muhangi Road in Bubango Sub County.

The letter further advises the chief Administrative officer (CAO) Christopher Kyomya,  to proceed with implementation of the emergency works and accountability submitted before December 15.

Speaking to the New Vision on Wednesday, the joyful Kasaija reiterated government's commitment to revamp the dilapidated roads across the country adding that all his efforts are meant to deliver effective service delivery to the electorate.

‘'I am working with relevant ministries to ensure most of the impassable roads are worked upon particularly in Bubango and Nyamarwa sub-counties. The Government is committed to rehabilitate all impassable roads to enable farmers and the business community get access to markets'', he said.

He noted that farmers have for long decried the poor roads which make it difficult for them to transport their produce to marketing centers and purchase of inputs and other essential needs from towns.

Christopher Kyomya the Kibaale Chief Administrative officer said the funds will be put to effective use by being channelled to its intended purpose.

I'm optimistic that the funds received will be used effectively. I will ensure that the funds are not diverted to any other activity in the district. Roads that are in bad state will be worked upon and accountability displayed for public viewing'', he said.
