Cracked, dull feet? A scrub will do them good

Oct 19, 2020

An occasional pedicure will do your feet a lot of good, but a regular scrub even better!

YOUR BEAUTY

The feet are some of the driest and busiest parts of our bodies.

They endure dust, mud and sand all the while carrying our weight. It is no wonder then that they become dry, dull and the heels become flaky and cracked.

An occasional pedicure will do them a lot of good, but if you do not have the time or means or are in between pedicures, at least indulge them in a scrub. They will thank you for it.

This simple three-ingredient scrub works wonders for dry cracked heels and feet and it can be done in the comfort of your home.

Ingredients

• 4 table spoons of sugar

Sugar has the gritty texture needed to exfoliate the skin and it adds moisture to the skin.

• ½ tablespoon of lime juice

Lime juice is very good for skin brightening since it has citric acid and it removes pots and dead skin.

• 1&½ tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil

Olive oil is not only known for its healing properties, but it also softens hard skin and leaves it moisturized.

Method

Add the sugar, olive oil and lime juice in a clean container and mix them well. The mixture can be stored for 15 to 20 days at room temperature.

Scoop a moderate amount of scrub and massage your feet for three to five minutes, or until the sugar falls off. Then rinse off with clean water.

Pat-dry with a clean towel and you will notice an immediate glow and brightness to your skin. This same scrub can be used for hands.

Apply a foot cream or lotion and massage it in the skin thoroughly then wear socks to bed (best done before bed) to keep the moisture locked in.

You can repeat this whenever necessary, although weekly or fortnightly is adequate.
