Schools in Lamwo district fail to re-open over failure to meet SOPs

Only 11 out of 120 learning institutions in Lamwo district have re-opened for finalists.

Banabas Langoya, the Lamwo district education officer says the schools that re-opened are those that put in place all the Standard Operating Procedures as required by government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among learners and the teachers.

Among the requirements, include having in place handwashing facilities, hand sanitisers and temperature guns.

Among the schools that have re-opened are World View Primary School, Unity Primary School, Palabek Ogili Secondary School and Glory Land Primary School all in Palabek Ogili Sub County.

Others are Ngomlac Primary School in Lamwo Town Council, Madi Kiloc Primary School in Padibe west Sub County, Lukung Secondary School in Lukung sub county, Kapeta and Gapsin Valley Primary School in Palabek Kal sub county, Awic and Aketti Primary School.

Parents have also been advised to identify schools nearest to their homes to enroll their children for the meantime to avoid risks, unnecessary costs and inconveniences of long distance travel to schools.
