The headteacher of Muni Primary School, Agnes Firuah, said the school was inspected on Saturday. She said they have improvised space to accommodate the 80 pupils in the Primary Seven class.

Private schools in Arua district have not yet been inspected by the Directorate of Education Standards ahead of reopening of institutions for finalists.

Candidates and finalists from primary, secondary and tertiary institutions start reporting on Thursday. John Dratre Mundua, the headteacher of Oprah Jayden Nursery and Primary School, said they are ready to receive Primary Seven candidates.

However, he said the school had not yet been inspected and was waiting for ministry officials to it before Thursday.

"We have planned for all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and are ready to open," he said. The headteacher of Ushindi Secondary School, Patrick Vita, said they have not received any officials from the education ministry to assess the school preparedness.

"Whether the inspectors come by Thursday or not, we will open to receive our candidates of Senior Four and Six," he said.

Vita said they have put measures in place to observe the SOPs, but added that parents should provide masks for their children as they wait for free government face masks.

He said those who did not clear first term fees will be asked to pay before resuming because first term will be embedded in third term.

GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS INSPECTED

However, most government-aided schools have already been inspected.

The headteacher of Muni Primary School, Agnes Firuah, said the school was inspected on Saturday. She said they have improvised space to accommodate the 80 pupils in the Primary Seven class.

"We have washing facilities and are engaging parents to provide two layered masks for pupils," she said.

The deputy headteacher of St Joseph's College Ombaci, Juliet Ajiko, said they were inspected and also engaged parents on SOPs.

She said parents will be asked to buy one litre of sanitiser per student and provide two masks for each student.
