Makerere University professor dies on way to clinic

Prof. Joseph Oonyu of the Faculty of Education at Makerere University has died. 

Prof. Oonyu, according to his sister, Jane Atima, died on Tuesday morning as his wife was rushing him to a clinic in Mpererwe, a Kampala suburb, after a short illness. 

"He told his wife that he developed a running stomach last night and that he felt like vomiting but he couldn't vomit," Atima told New Vision on phone. 

Atima said the body of Oonyu had been taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem. 

"It's sad. He was well yesterday and even had a virtual meeting up to 10pm before he retired to bed," Atima said.
