Afternoon rains wreak havoc in Kampala

The downpour was brief but devastating

The Monday afternoon downpour disrupted activities in some areas of Kampala as roads and neighbourhoods were filled with floodwater.

In the suburbs of Nateete and Nalukolongo, many businesses were shut as the floodwaters invaded shops and residential homes.

Residents blame the flooding on narrow drainage facilities in the area which are incapable of handling the volumes of water following downpours.

In St Balikuddembe market, the traders has a huge clean-up job to do, as Richard Sanya found.
