The Sunshine Coast Lightning lost a chance to compete in their fourth consecutive Suncorp Super Netball final after the West Coast Fever defeated them by 73-59 goals on Sunday.

Although a tough pill to swallow, Sunshine Coast were overmatched by a team that simply did all the hard things well. Their defensive displays were a cut above and in that regard, only South African Carla Pretorius stood out. The fever put up a midcourt display that was only matched by Jhaniele Fowler Reeds scoring in the attack which gave them a huge first-half lead.

The scoreboard pressure was too much for the Lightning and Ugandan Peace Proscovia came in in the second half. That moved proved right as the Ugandan brought in some physicality that was a bit lacking. She fought and won a few duels but the work by Fever had been done earlier in the match.

The Fever had a 39-23 halftime lead at Peace Proscovia came in at 47-25. They finished the third quarter at 59-41 to help finish the match with some respectability.
The grand final will be contested by the Melbourne Vixens and the West Coast Fever next Sunday.
